Arizona Turquoise Heishi Beaded Necklace
ONLY by hand can one create the smooth, tiny, disc-shaped Heishi bead. This 4mm Heishi (pronounced "hee-shee") beaded necklace is made of Arizona turquoise with minimal matrix. A necklace traditionally made of hand-cut shells, the word 'heishi' comes from the Santo Domingo word that means "shell." These necklaces are some of the oldest forms of jewelry. Originating in the Dominican Republic, they have become a significant part of Native American culture.
The smooth, uniform finish of the heishi beads offer a soothing, grounding sensation to the wearer. Turquoise, revered for centuries, is a talisman of wisdom, tranquility, and protection, a silent guardian that brings balance and good fortune. Together, they create a connection to the earth with a touch of luck to carry you on your way.
